Lemon sharks are protected in Florida waters starting March 23, 2010.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission voted at its meeting in Apalachicola to ban recreational and commercial harvest of lemon sharks. The ban does not extend to federal waters.
Frank Sargeant’s 19th annual outdoors show is March 5-7 at the Florida State Fairgrounds.
Boats, fishing tackle and just about everything outdoors will be there. Admission is free the first day, then $8 on the weekend for ages 13 and up. Children 12 and under get in free. Parking is an additional $5. The Fairgrounds are at the intersection of I-4 and U.S. 301 east of Tampa, not far from Polk County.
